A Moment In-Between

We believe that we’re telling the truth.

But really we’re lying to ourselves when we say it,

“I just don’t have time.”

This is by far the biggest excuse we give for not spending time with God.

And I’m guilty of it too.

Balancing work, house chores, family time and life can sure make it seem like there’s no time. But I’m going to tell you a secret.

One that doesn’t involve waking up at 5am.

Or spending less time with family.

Or cancelling prior commitments.

The secret to more time with God is this,

In-between.

That’s it. Seems too easy right?

But let me ask you this,

Do you have any in-between moments during your days with time to spare?

What do you do while:

Driving to work

Doing the dishes

Folding laundry

Cleaning up the house

Cooking meals

Doing yard work

Showering

Or making your morning coffee?

When we start to look for them, we find pockets of time or “in-between” moments where we can reach out to God. Our Creator isn’t sitting there criticizing us for the type of time we spend with Him. He just wants to be a part of our everyday lives.

In my own walk with Christ, I’d like to confess something.

Some of the most powerful moments I’ve had with God:

Weren’t at church.

Or a conference.

Or a Bible study.

Or in my quiet morning time.

Instead, they were on the drive to and from work.

In the everyday mundane tasks I found myself in.

In moments of sorrow while I cried in the shower.

In the last few minutes of my day before I fell asleep.

In all the in-between moments while life was happening, God was busy speaking to me and softening my heart.

And I love spending long stretches of time with God when I can. There is also power in uninterrupted meetings with the Lord. But for the person who feels there isn’t any time left for God, I challenge you.

Where are your in-between moments?

Can you spend time with God in unexpected ways today?

Because God has no limits. He isn’t only in the office on Sundays or 1 hour in the morning. He is available to us in every. single. second. of our days.

So let’s use them.

Praying for you,

Jasmine
