Every Saturday a small group of us meet in a little house of prayer to fellowship and pray. Today was no different.
As I drove to the meeting, I asked the Lord to use me however He saw fit. You see, I never think of myself as a particularly grand prayer and I often question what I will offer to the group.
But today, I was surprised.
Walking into the building with some new faces in the room, I immediately felt the presence of the Lord. It’s funny how just being with other believers can make us feel at home.
Everyone took turns going around the circle sharing requests and praying as they felt led to. And in that moment, something in me clicked. Just focusing on God was enough to set me ablaze and the Holy Spirit prompted me to pray powerfully and lovingly.
But, it was nothing special that I had done. I believe it was the power of being in a Godly community.
The more we went around and prayed, it was like each of us contributing a stick to a Holy bonfire. Every new addition set the whole room on fire. We were strengthened, renewed, and loved. And I remembered in that moment the impact of acting as a true body of Christ.
So many times, I feel like it’s all up to me. Or that my worth as a Christian is in how great I pray or how much of the Bible I know. But God is not out to be impressed by me. He just wants His children to seek His face.
And whenever we seek Him together, a powerful thing happens. In my mind I see our prayers like streams of light reaching up to heaven. But when we pray together, it’s like a brilliant enormous beam to the sky. In today’s moment I saw the power of community.
One thing to know about a walk with Jesus is that no one walks it alone. The Lord puts people in our path to encourage and walk alongside of us. And I am so grateful for this.
I am not alone.
And neither are you.
Praying for you,
Jasmine
