A new day had started and I wasn’t feeling particularly grateful. I was tired, cold, and a bit down. Since moving to Alaska, my husband and I think about our family back home often.
It was a tough decision to come here, but it has been worth every bit of hardship. In the midst of this start to my day I was talking to my husband, when something stopped me in my tracks.
A sign hanging above my closet that was a constant reminder:
“You are blessed”.
It was a gift from my boss and dear friend and in that moment, I chose gratitude.
I started to list out the things and people I was blessed to have. I was especially thankful for my husband and the Lord.
Having a relationship with Jesus means there is always someone to be thankful for. Because He did what no one else did.
He was the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a criminal’s death on a cross, and rose from the grave three days later. He broke the chains of sin for all mankind and defeated death. He made the way for us to be reunited with our Heavenly Father and live forever.
Jesus gave us new life.
If this is something you already are thankful for, I’m so glad. My heart bursts with joy for you. For it is so sweet to have a savior.
If the knowledge of Jesus is all but foreign to you, I encourage you to dig deeper. Seek the Lord and find out for yourself, that there is a God who truly loves you. Who sent His only Son to die for you.
No matter how my day starts, or how I am feeling, there is always something to be grateful for.
My Lord Jesus has set me free.
Praying for you,
Jasmine
