A Moment of Learning

Some things are learned the hard way.

I’ve heard it said that life is like a school. And God has us here to learn about Him and how to be more like Him. Often this process of learning comes through tests.

When it came to academic schooling, I did well at tests. I could even say I enjoyed the challenge of them at times.

But the Lord sends tests in another way.

He doesn’t give us a lined piece of paper or a multiple choice quiz.

Instead, He allows people and situations in our lives that test some of our weakest parts.

It could be the person who gets under your skin testing your patience.

Or the loss of a loved one testing your faith.

It could be the job you hate testing your trust in God.

Or the constant interruptions and demands testing your peace.

I could go on and on.

After a particularly hard day, I found myself talking to God. And through my quiet time and reflecting, I learned something.

The Lord helped me to realize that I had been going through a test.

He wanted to see if I would still hold my patience, peace, and love in the midst of whatever situation came my way.

Would I hold onto Him?

Or let the day sweep me up in a whirlwind?

I am thankful that every day is a new beginning, and for the grace of God.

Through every moment, test, and trial He is right by our side.

Loving and supporting us.

A walk with God means that in every situation, we can make it through.

Learning to be more like Christ every day.
