The day had gotten away from me. I was wrapped up in all the things “to-do” on my day off that I all but forgot one important person.
The Lord.
The night was closing in, when I realized I hadn’t spent much time at all talking to or communing with God. And I could feel Him beckoning me. Like a silent expectation to spend some time together.
So I closed my eyes, sat quietly, and started to speak to Him in my heart.
Immediately, I felt a surge of peace. My worries started to fade as I focused on all the attributes of God.
His Holiness.
His Goodness.
His Great Love.
And, I felt a small smile grow on my face.
So often I feel the path to pleasing God to be long, arduous, and strict. But it couldn’t be any simpler. Like any father, He just wants to spend time with His children. And without planning to, I spent some much needed and refreshing time with God.
It isn’t complicated. And there are too many instances were religion and tradition stifle the ways that we reach out to God.
I love that the Lord is creative. And He relates to us all individually in a very specific-to-us sort of way. Any attempt at seeking the Lord is a good one. It doesn’t need to be pretty, perfect, or well-worded. It just needs to be genuine.
A walk with Jesus means being honest with yourself and honest with God. There is no room for hiding or pretending. He sees right into our hearts.
It can be comforting and also a bit intimidating to know that the God of all the universe can see right into our souls. He sees all the mistakes we’ve made, but also every ounce of goodness and potential in us.
And He loves us.
So no matter where your day may have taken you, it’s never too late to enter a moment of stillness and spend time with the Lord.
He waits for us all with a silent and loving expectation.
Praying for you,
Jasmine

Thank you so much for your post! I have been struggling to find time to write on my blog since my husband suddenly passed in January. I’ve not posted for days until today because of the weight of grief and just feeling like when I do sit down to post, it’s hard to focus. I have been pressing into the Lord and praying a lot more for our country and for my family. But after reading your posts and a few others- I feel like I have family I haven’t met until now. Thank you. Diana
