A Moment of Uncertainty

I was heading out of the laundry room at the lodge where I work. When I saw it.

Ambulances. Fire Department vehicles. Flashing lights.

I walked up to an EMT and asked what was going on.

“Someone fell in the river.”

I then looked out at the cold, fast flowing water beside the lodge. This river is wider than a six lane highway and not the place to be swimming.

I immediately went inside, peered through the windows, and started to pray.

In our walk with the Lord there are what I like to call prayer promptings. These are instances where something happens and our first instinct is to reach out to God. This was one of them. I asked for the person to be found and to be safe.

But, I couldn’t escape the anxious feeling in my throat that something could happen to that person. That they were someone’s child, or parent, or friend.

I saw a speedboat go upstream and not return. Turns out they found the person upstream somewhere and got them out of the water.

Whether they were alive or not, I don’t know.

But what I do know is that no matter the outcome, my God is good and I can trust Him through the uncertainty. For He is always certain. He does not get anxious or worry.

He is in control.

I am so thankful to have a God in my life who cares about the smallest details and the greatest ones. That I have someone to turn to when life seems upside down.

And I think, how sad it must be to try to do this life alone. To have no one to call on when the ambulances go by and life seems uncertain.

Because a walk with Jesus means you always have someone to turn to. Waiting for you to speak to them. Waiting to help. Waiting to comfort.

I am so thankful for my God.

Praise the Lord who is always there.

Praying for you,

Jasmine
