It completely caught me by surprise.
I hadn’t realized that it had been so long since I saw it in its fullness.
I was driving down a well traveled road on a cold Alaskan morning. When I saw a sight that brought tears to my eyes.
I could see not just the smaller mountains that I normally could see on a cloudier day, but the complete Alaskan range was in full view. And the pinnacle of this sight is the tallest mountain in North America; Denali.
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and the sunlight was beaming on the mountain as its top pierced above all the trees around me. It was absolutely beautiful. And even after over two years of living here, it still takes my breath away.
Now, I will admit that this isn’t the first time the sight of Denali has made me shed tears. It’s not. But this time, there was a different reason for my change in emotions.
God was speaking to me in that split second of a moment. I thought about how many days it had been cloudy recently. The mountain had been hiding from my view. And there was a cloudiness to my days too. I felt more and more the monotony of the day and less of God’s presence in my life.
And as I saw the view, I felt Him speak to my heart,
I am still with you.
That mountain never left its place even on the cloudiest day, and the Lord has never left my side.
He is as sure and steady as the mountain.
Maybe you have experienced feeling like God is far away from time to time. But no matter what is happening in life, He never leaves our side.
He is the Rock. A mighty mountain. A firm foundation. And no amount of clouds or darkness will ever change that.
Until another moment,
Jasmine
