Remember

Do you remember?

The days of old,

When cell phones didn’t exist?

And dinner never got cold?

When playing outside,

was the joy of a child,

traipsing mud and fireflies,

in from the wild?

And when it got dark,

we found our way home,

for the light from the porch left on,

still shone,

Remember please,

my brothers and sisters,

to shine God’s light,

so that it never flickers,

When the dark of this world closes in,

no one will be lost,

the fold will turn in,

For we shine not a beacon,

blasting the sinner with shame,

but a light on the porch,

for He still remembers their name,

Do not let your brothers get lost in the weeds,

call out, shine your light,

that we might all be freed,

From the power of darkness,

and finally come home,

to the light and the hearth,

for the porch light still shone.
